Nissan Motor reported a record-high global production of 1.567 million cars for the first half of the fiscal year 2004/2005, ending March 31, 2005, up 6.8% year-on-year, the company said, according to the Japan News Digest.

The company’s domestic output decreased 1.7% to 712,431 cars, while its overseas output rose 15.1% to 854,716 cars. The company’s output in the USA and Mexico rose 34.6% to 361,277 cars and 3.1% to 158,540 cars, respectively. The output in the UK decreased 4.3% to 159,352 cars, while that in Spain rose 23.2% to 69,077 cars.
According to the report, Nissan sold a total 367,738 cars in Japan, down 4.9%, and had a 13.6% share of the domestic market, down by 0.5%. The company sold a total 489,252 cars in the USA, up 16.6%. A total 273,266 Nissan cars were sold in Europe, up 1.4%.
Exports of Nissan cars totalled 371,284 units, up 8.2%. Of the total exports, exports to the USA increased 13.4% to 138,570 cars and those to Europe rose 23.8% to 68,020 cars, Japan News Digest said.
