A richer model mix has boosted revenues at Volkswagen’s premium Audi brand faster than unit sales, the company reportedly said on Wednesday.

According to Reuters, chief executive Martin Winterkorn told the company’s annual meeting that turnover gained about 5% to roughly €8.6 billion ($US11.05 billion) to the end of April, ahead of the 4.2% rise in unit deliveries of 269,750 – deliveries in April alone rose 10.9% to 74,706 vehicles.

Reuters noted that the division generated a 22% rise in operating profit in the first three months despite a 1.9% drop in unit deliveries.
