Hyundai Motor Group brands Hyundai, Kia and Genesis will adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) for charging ports on EVs sold in North America from the fourth quarter of 2024.
Drivers will gain access to 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the continent.
In the US, new EVs will come exclusively with a NACS port while Canadian models will follow in the first half of 2025.
Owners of EVs with the current CCS port will have access to the Tesla network from Q1 2025 using an adapter.
The automaker will offer adaptors to those owners and also offer them for charging NACS plug-equipped vehicles at CCS chargers.
“This new alliance….complements our joint venture to create a new, high-powered charging network with at least 30,000 stations across North America,” said Jose Munoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, in a statement.
