Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors has commissioned a vehicle scrapping facility (RVSF) in Guwahati, Assam.

The fully digitalised facility, known as ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect,’ is designed to dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles every year through eco-friendly processes, the company said.

Operated by Tata Motors’ partner Axom Platinum Scrappers, Guwahati RVSF is equipped to handle the scrapping of both passenger and commercial vehicles from various brands.

This launch marks the seventh such facility in India, joining others located in cities including Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, the Delhi NCR region, and Pune.

Tata Motors executive director Girish Wagh said: “Today, with the launch of the Northeast’s first Re.Wi.Re facility in Guwahati, Tata Motors takes a significant step in advancing responsible vehicle scrapping in the region.

“With our network of RVSFs across seven states, we can now dismantle over 100,000 end-of-life vehicles annually.”

The LPO 1618 diesel bus chassis, tailored for intercity and long-distance travel, is planned to be delivered in phases according to the terms agreed upon by both parties.
