Hyundai has announced an expansion of charging options for its electric vehicle (EV) owners in the US by providing access to Tesla’s network of superchargers.

This initiative applies to owners of the current Hyundai KONA Electric, IONIQ Electric hatchback, IONIQ 5, and IONIQ 6 models equipped with a combined charging system (CCS) port.

With the addition of a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter, these customers can tap into over 20,000 Tesla superchargers across the country.

Starting the week of 7 April, eligible Hyundai EV owners who purchased their vehicles on or before 31 January 2025 will receive emails to detailing how to redeem their complimentary adapters.

This adapter, designed by Hyundai to be compatible with its battery electric vehicles, including those built on the e-GMP high voltage platform, will nearly “double” the available DC fast-charging stations for these models.

Hyundai Motor North America product planning and mobility strategy senior vice president Olabisi Boyle said: “Starting today, more Hyundai EV customers will have access to 20,000 Tesla superchargers across North America, doubling their fast-charging options.
