American Honda Motor has announced pricing of the redesigned 2007 CR-V small SUV on sale nationwide from Friday.

The new model, which is for the first time being assembled at Honda of America Manufacturing’s plant in East Liberty, Ohio, where it shares a line with the Civic and Element, will cost from $US20,600 for the base 2WD CR-V LX version to $26,000 for the top 4WD EX-L. A navigation system with voice recognition and rear view camera is a $2,000 factory-fitted option.

The US-specification CR-V has a 166-horsepower, 2.4-litre, I4 engine with five-speed automatic transmission and vehicle stability assist, and comprehensive standard safety features, including side curtain airbags with roll-over sensors, front side airbags with occupant position detection system and anti-lock braking system are standard.

Two-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines and manual transmissions are available in other markets worldwide.

Previous US-market CR-Vs were sourced from both Japan and Honda’s Swindon plant in UK. Swindon ceased building US-specification models a while ago, though it continues to supply UK and European markets.
