Volkswagen is launching a new sales and marketing offensive aimed at offsetting a potential decline in demand next year, after strong growth in the German market this year, according to Automobilwoche.

The company has already started a telesales programme with 400,000 potential customers designed to generate customers. It is also offering enhanced dealer incentives, and is targeting the lease sector with attractive rates, designed to compete with aggressive pricing from its main competitors, Fiat and Opel.

Keen to attract new customers to the brand, Volkswagen will shortly be offering new special models, with a standard set of factory-fitted equipment at low prices. For example a version of the Touareg SUV will be offered at a price EUR8,000 below the standard price.
