Mercedes Car Group has increased global sales by 7% in the first four months of 2006 to 395,800 vehicles. The group includes Maybach and Smart.
In Western Europe, sales increased 2% in the first four months of the year to 248,100 units. In the US, sales rose by 16% during the same period to 72,500 units. The biggest regional sales group came from the group’s Asia/Pacific region where sales increased 23% to 44,000 units.
At 91,300 units, sales of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars were slightly lower in April than in the same month last year (April 2005: 92,400 units; minus 1%). During the first four months of the year, deliveries rose 12% to 357,300 units (January-April 2005: 318,800). Sales are expected to be boosted by the launch of the facelifted E-class in Europe in June.
In April, sales at Smart amounted to 9,500 vehicles taking the total to 38,500 vehicles during the first four months of the year.
