The strike threatening Tower Automotive would affect Chrysler, the automaker’s chief executive Tom LaSorda told Dow Jones at the Chicago motor show this week.

Chrysler, GM and Ford are Tower’s main customers.

Tower is in bankruptcy and is seeking to cancel existing labour contracts under bankruptcy laws, and cut wages by US$1.50 and $3.00 an hour. It also wants to reduce workers’ health care benefits by around a third.

A court judgement is due on February 27th, so any strike would start in March.
