This is a 35% rise in production volume from the previous year, when 48,401 units were produced.
The rise in volume was attributed to GMSA’s strong sales performance where by year-end it accounted for 13.6% of total industry sales in 2005, up from the previous year’s 12.2%.
The bulk of production was the best-selling bakkies [Afrikaans for pickup trucks] with 17,420 Corsa Utilities and 21,532 Isuzu KBs built over the period, business.iafrica.com said.
