Humberstone’s most recent role was chief representative for Fiat Group Automobiles China and vice-chairman of Nanjing Fiat.

He takes over from outgoing MD Giulio Salomone, who is leaving the UK company after two-and-a-half years.

Salomone oversaw the launch of the Grande Punto, Bravo and Sedici SUV and sales climbed on his watch – up 64% year-on-year to 58,831 units in 2006.

Salomone returns to Italy to take over responsibility for Fiat brand worldwide dealer network development, fleet and used cars operations.
