Hyundai Kia has announced that it has formed a partnership with the local chipmaker C&S Technology to develop non-memory chips for in-car infotainment features such as audio and navigation systems and television reception systems.

The company said that through the partnership, it plans to develop automotive non-memory chips that are mostly imported with local technologies to reduce costs and secure competitiveness in related areas.
According to the company, a typical vehicle requires about US$246 worth of semiconductors and the cost of semiconductors is projected to rise to US$317 per vehicle by 2015.
