Holden Special Vehicles – which produces sporty versions of the GM unit’s regular production models – has recorded its best ever year of sales in company history, with 5,222 vehicles delivered in Australia and an expanding number of overseas markets in 2007 – up 42% year on year.
“Over 4,000 vehicles were delivered in Australia and “over 1,000” vehicles exported, according to a company statement. The exports were badged HSV in New Zealand, Vauxhall Griffin in the United Kingdom and sold as part of a new Chevrolet Special Vehicles range in the Middle East.
HSV’s general manager of sales and marketing Darren Bowler said the record result was attributable to the launch of new products and continued customer interest and sales growth in the E-Series ClubSport, GTS and Senator models.
“The launch of WM Grange in May has led to unprecedented demand for the flagship vehicle in the HSV line-up – we sold more Granges in some months last year than we previously sold in entire years”, Bowler said.
“The E-Series Maloo R8 launch toward the end of the year gave us a really strong finish to 2007, with a strong order bank still to service for HSV’s ‘workhorse’”.
