Suzuki is to build its Jimny sport-utility vehicle in Brazil to boost sales in the fast-growing economy.
The company said production would be handled by the Brazilian importer although it gave to date for the start of operations.
In 2009, Suzuki sold about 3,000 units in Brazil, securing a 0.1% share of the market. Among other Japanese automakers, Toyota and Honda currently manufacture vehicles in Brazil.
Suzuki started selling vehicles in Brazil in 1991 but pulled out of the market in 2003. It returned in 2008.
