Chrysler is reportedly seeing a resurgence in US retail sales in March, although overall sales are looking less healthy.
March retail sales are running 51 percent above last month according to Fred Diaz, head of sales and the Ram brand, speaking to the Detroit News.
All four Chrysler brands – including Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge Car – are enjoying increased retail sales this month, Diaz said.
However, he also told the newspaper that total Chrysler sales could be down 12 percent from a year ago, when the firm was heavily engaging in incentives to lift sales.
“We were buying the market,” Diaz said of discounts of as much as USD8,000 last spring.
Diaz also said Chrysler will honour its commitment to dealers to keep them competitive without reverting to huge discounts.
