Russia’s industry and trade ministry has approved a list of car manufacturers whose models are eligible for regional government purchases under a federally and regionally financed 30bn ruble programme, business daily Vedomosti reported.
The list includes cars and trucks produced by AvtoVAZ, Sollers, Kamaz, ZIL, GM-AvtoVAZ, and GAZ, as well as vehicles produced at Ford’s Russian plant in St Petersburg.
According to Prime-Tass, regional development minister Viktor Basargin said earlier that the federal government expected to provide 20bn rubles in subsidies to regional governments for vehicle purchases before the end of April. Meanwhile, regional governments are expected to contribute an additional 10bn rubles, transportation minister Igor Levitin said late last month.
