Ford is recalling some 160,00 Focus ST and Escape models to fix a problem with the wiring that could cause engines to stall.
The recall involves 142,000 Escape crossovers and 17,400 Focus ST hatchbacks powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged engines. The company said that a fault in the wiring harness could result in incorrect signals being sent to the ECU which could cause the engine to stutter or even stall.
This is the eleventh recall for the Escape since its redesign in 2013 although no single model has been subject to all 11 recall campaigns.
