New vehicle sales in Indonesia rose 9.8% month on month to 33,282 units in July, the car assemblers’ association, Gaikindo, said on Monday, according to Dow Jones.


Passenger car sales rose to 4,314 units from 3,988 in June while commercial vehicles accounted for 28,968 of all vehicles sold, up from 26,338 units in June, the association said in a statement cited by the news agency.


So far this year, Indonesian consumers have bought 204,092 new vehicles, Dow Jones said, citing Gaikindo.


The country’s largest vehicle maker, PT Astra International, which has a joint venture with Toyota to assemble and distribute the company’s vehicles in Indonesia, saw a 10% month on month increase in domestic sales to 14,132 units in July, Dow Jones added.
