Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz seemingly cannot stop breaking records after hitting another new monthly high in March with 183,467 sales, up 15.7% year on year.
In the first quarter of 2015, 429,602 vehicles were sold, topping the previous year’s record by 14.8%.
Sales and marketing chief Ola Källenius said: “This is due in no small part to the product offensive we continued to drive forward in March. The CLA Shooting Brake [wagon], launched 28 March, is the perfect addition to our compact car family.”
Mercedes set a new record in Europe last month as sales rose 16.3% to 89,041 vehicles – 27,118 of those in Germany and a record 26,488 in the UK. In the NAFTA region, a new sales record of 34,370 was set, up 9.1%, with 29,921 sold in the US.
In the Asia-Pacific region, sales rose 18% to a new record 54,206 vehicles, 30,124 in China, where growth of 20.8% was achieved. Japan sales were a record 18,776 year to date.
YTS sales of the C-Class sedan and estate are running 57.8% ahead of 2014 at 109,050 units. The E-Class was popular in China in the first quarter of 2015, posting growth of 4.9%.

By GlobalDataS-Class sales in the first quarter totalled 25,849, up 7.1%, while SUVs also achieved new records with first quarter sales up almost 32% to 107,323 units.
Smart sales in March totalled 11,984, up 25%. After its successful launch in Europe, the redesigned two-door city coupé will also be available for sale in the US from autumn.
