Delphi has announced that it is to supply more audio systems to Ford Motor Company. Delphi Delco Electronics Systems has received a long-term supply agreement from Ford Motor Company to provide a variety of Delphi Delco audio systems for several future models.

“We are very pleased with being selected as a major Ford audio systems supplier,” said Jeffrey J. Owens, president of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems. “Audio systems play a pivotal role in influencing consumer choices to purchase a particular vehicle. Earning this significant Ford audio business is further confirmation of our effectiveness and subsequent sustained leadership in the radio original equipment market.”

Delphi will provide several radio receivers including single play CD’s, dual CD cassette or a six-disc CD in-dash changer. The six-disc CD in-dash changer also includes a high power option in a conventional radio package that provides 180 watts of continuous RMS power.

Delphi also will provide Ford with several audio systems models that include CD players capable of playing digital compressed audio formats like MP3. With these formats, many music lovers compress music off standard music CDs, converting it into computer files, which allows more storage than conventional CDs. Consumers can add up to 100 songs on a CD to make custom music libraries.

Delphi says that Delco audio systems are now made available on more than 20 different vehicle brands.
