Belarus is in discussions with France and China with a view to potentially establishing vehicle assembly plants in the country.
The Eastern European country’s head of the central department for industry, transport and communication, Vladimir Dernovoi is quoted as saying assembly talks were held last year but foundered due to the economic crisis.
Now however, it appears that China’s Chery Automobiles and the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) may be ready to discuss the possible assembly of Chinese models.
Dernovoi is also cited saying France may also be interested in starting car assembly, although no concrete details are available.
