China’s leading electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Company Limited (CATL) and global logistics company DHL Group have agreed to strengthen their collaboration in developing zero-emission solutions for DHL’s logistics operations.
The two companies signed a strategic agreement that aims to provide DHL with comprehensive solutions that integrate energy storage systems, electric vehicle charging and battery swapping in its logistics parks.
Under the agreement, CATL will provide advanced liquid-cooled energy storage systems and energy management platforms for DHL’s logistics parks, which will be connected to battery swapping and superfast charging systems.
CATL confirmed that its “comprehensive energy storage solutions will enable energy structure optimization across various DHL facilities, allowing for maximum utilization of green energy.” The company said it will also explore opportunities to collaborate in new BEV designs, battery recycling and end-of-life battery management, in partnership with DHL’s global network of “EV Centers of Excellence”.
Libin Tan, CATL’s co-president of sales and marketing, said in a statement: “By combining DHL’s extensive logistics and operational expertise, and CATL’s innovative green technology, we are joining forces to deliver the trailblazing sustainable logistics solution to the industry. Our strengthened cooperation with DHL will not only contribute to achieving both parties’ sustainability targets, but also facilitate the world towards to a greener future.”
Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, added: “We’re excited to start using CATL’s energy solutions in our logistics parks, while providing our logistics services to CATL. This solution really highlights the great partnership and innovative spirit between our teams. It is a perfect example of how we’re working together to achieve our shared goal of sustainability.”
