ChargePoint Services, owner and operator of the GeniePoint Network, is working alongside Ei Group, the UK’s largest pub company with more than 4,400 properties nationwide, to launch electric vehicle charging.

Phase one of the scheme will be the installation of ten GeniePoint Network charging sockets at Ei Group’s Pub Support Centre in Solihull in the UK’s Midlands region, to provide free-to-use workplace EV power for the company’s field-based drivers.

There will be five twin socket units providing 7kW & 22kW charging.

Phase two will see the installation of GeniePoint Network rapid chargers in car parks at sites across the Ei Managed Operations business, followed by roll-out at further pubs in the division, nationwide.

“As a business, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and running a more eco-friendly and sustainable operation,” said Ei Group commercial director, Paul Harbottle.

“We have a growing number of plug-in hybrid electric cars as part of our company car fleet, so this investment in installing the charge points makes sound business sense.

“Electric cars are the future, so as a company, rolling out the installation of charge points across our managed estate gives customers another reason to visit our pubs and lets them charge up.

“As the scheme progresses, we will also look to support publicans interested in this technology within our Ei Publican Partnerships business through fully leveraging our buying power, as we do for them across many other areas.”
