Ford
Brazil this week began exports of the U.S.-designed F-250 and F-350 full size
pickups and the F-350 light truck to Australia, writes Rogerio Louro Alves.

The South American subsidiary is the only one in the world producing the right-hand-drive
F-series models which were developed specially for Australia.

Ford Australia has previously built F-series from assembly kits imported from
North America and a locally-developed RHD conversion.

The Australian export F-series vehicles are produced in Ford’s São
Bernardo do Campo plant in São Paulo state alongside LHD models for Brazil
and other South American markets.

There were 450 vehicles in the first export shipment to Australia.

“We use more than 1,000 exclusive components in the RHD export models,”
said Ford do Brasil product manager George Rehder.

drive is available. Australian buyers will also have a choice of regular, king
or double cabs.
