Marcopolo, Brazil’s largest bus maker, has signed an agreement to sell 119 vehicles to Dubai Municipality, the company responsible for public transport in Dubai.
Analysis –
The first bus will be shipped at the end of August and Marcopolo will eventually export 112 Viale urban buses and seven Andare intercity models. All will be built on Brazilian-made Scania chassis.
To meet the special demands of Dubai Municipality, the air conditioned buses will have ‘air curtains’ on their door openings to help keep hot ambient air and sand out.
They will also have a separate seating area for women.
