FAW-Volkswagen, one of Volkswagen’s main Chinese joint ventures, launched the new Audi Q7 last week as the company looks to strengthen the brand’s lead in the country’s large size premium SUV segment.
The luxury seven seat SUV is available in three variants with prices ranging between CNY689,800 (US$97,200) and CNY866,800, depending on engine options and equipment levels.
The top spec model is fitted with a three-litre six cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 48 volt mild hybrid system as standard, coupled with an integrated eight speed transmission system.
Its drivetrain generates a maximum power output up to 250kW, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds.
Audi enjoyed a strong sales rebound in April with sales rising by 38% to 55,888 units compared with the previous month.
Another major FAW joint venture, FAW-Toyota, this week began producing its first pure electric vehicle at its Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor plant in the port city of Tianjin.
