Stellantis brand Fiat has extended the production suspension of its electric 500e into November due to weaker than expected orders amid rising concerns over soft demand for BEVs in Europe. The brand had previously said production of the model had been stopped for four weeks until October 11.

The 500 is made in Turin at Fiat’s historic Mirafiori plant.

Fiat has said that the production suspension is necessary due to the current lack of orders linked to the deep difficulties experienced in the European electric (car) market by all producers, particularly the European ones.

Earlier this year, Fiat said it will add a hybrid model of the Fiat 500 at the Mirafiori plant – set for production in late 2025. That move also reflects slower than expected sales of the all-electric 500 model made at the Mirafiori plant.
