Renault is backing up its claims of the greatly improved quality of its redesigned 2008 Laguna with a new world-wide three-year warranty.

Cars sold in Europe will also be covered for three years or 150,000km (about 95,000 miles) while those shipped to ‘Euromed’, Asia-Africa and Americas markets will be covered for 100,000km (60,000 miles).

“This three-year warranty will reassure all our customers and demonstrate our confidence in succeeding the ‘top three quality’ commitment for new Laguna,” the automaker said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Renault’s UK unit said the new model, which goes on sale in the company’s largest right-hand-drive market on 19 October, would be priced up to GBP565 less than current equivalent models, with reductions averaging GBP300.

The extra cost of the Sport Tourer (wagon) versions in showrooms from January has been cut GBP150 to GBP950.

The UK-market warranty would be three years or 100,000 miles, Renault UK said in a statement.

Three trim levels would be available for both body styles at launch – Expression, Dynamique, and Dynamique S – and order books for the top Initiale version open in October.

Renault UK will offer the full range of three diesel and two petrol engines and six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.

New options in this market include rear thorax airbags, two Bluetooth satellite navigation systems and three combined extra equipment packs.
