Horse Powertrain, an automotive powertrain systems specialist, has established a new office in Detroit, US, extending its international presence into North America.
The Detroit site will act as the company’s hub for serving customers throughout the US.

Horse Powertrain – a joint venture between Geely, Renault Group and Aramco – has outlined plans to recruit for 32 positions spanning various business functions at the location, supplementing its current footprint in Europe, China and South America.
Through the new base, the firm aims to bring its capabilities in hybrid, plug-in hybrid and range-extended powertrain technology to North American clients, drawing on patents and engineering knowledge built up over time.
The company’s offerings span several propulsion categories, encompassing internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, transmissions, power electronics and electric motors.
According to the company, its pre-integrated systems cut down on the engineering complexity and upfront investment carmakers would otherwise face.
Horse Powertrain has a workforce exceeding 19,000 across its European, Chinese and South American operations, and counts more than 25 customers worldwide.
Horse Powertrain CEO Matias Giannini said: “The opening of our new North American office is an important moment for Horse Powertrain. North America is a key strategic market for our company, and one that will benefit greatly from our world-class portfolio of combustion and hybrid powertrains.
“In the years ahead, we aim to establish ourselves as a major partner for North American OEMs as they continue to offer a diverse range of vehicles to consumers.”
The firm introduced its X-Range C15 Direct Drive, described as an “all-in-one” powertrain, at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026.
