Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), the country's second largest car manufacturer and claimed top exporter, has built 5m cars since starting operations in 1998.

The milestone car was a Verna for sale in India.

The automaker built its millionth car, a Santro, in 2007, eight years and seven months after starting output. The three millionth was made in July 2013 and the four millionth in November 2015. 

Hyundai has been expanding its product line and now has 2,200 sales and service points including 422 rural outlets.

Models built so far are Santro, Eon, Verna, Creta, i10 Grand, Elite i20 & i20 Active, Xcent, Tucson and Elantra.
