Sales at General Motors Indian unit rose 3.57% in February from a year ago amid plans to introduce new models this year in a fast-growing market.

GM India said in a statement cited by Reuters that February car sales stood at 1,709 units compared to 1,650 in the same period a year ago. The firm said it had sold 1,300 multi-utility Chevrolet Taveras and 350 Chevrolet Optra sedans.

Reuters noted that GM on Tuesday reduced prices of all Optra models by up to INR20,000 after the federal budget lowered the country’s peak customs duty to 12.5% from 15%.
