Cars could become cheaper in Israel after yesterday’s Knesset Economics Committee decision to end car importers’ exclusive rights to import one make to Israel, reported the Ha’aretz newspaper’s website.

Several firms may now import the same cars, provided they have a deal with the manufacturer, and not from other sources, the report added.

The newspaper said transport minister Ephraim Sneh welcomed the change, saying it would lower prices and improve services. The new policy is effective next month.
