Toyota Motor Corp has reported a fall in its global production figures for its namesake brand in September, the first such fall in a year.
The world’s biggest automaker said that global vehicle output for Toyota fell 1.3% to 672,604 units in September. When its Daihatsu and Hino brands are included, worldwide production is flat at 758,103 units.
Sales in Japan saw their first decrease in 14 months, both in terms of the Toyota brand and overall. Toyota sales fell 6.3% to 133,843 units, whilst overall sales fell 2.4% to 198,255 units.
Toyota’s exports from Japan fell by 11% to 148,836 vehicles, due to decreased exports to North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Including Daihatsu and Hino exports, the figure was down 9.9% to 159,834 units.
Overseas production of Toyota vehicles fell 1.3% to 366,751 units, the first decrease in fourteen months, due to decreased production in Europe, North America and other regions. Overall, TMC’s overeas production fell 0.7% to 376,770 units.
