Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corporation reported a 4.4% rise in global production to 75,350 units in May 2025, from 72,199 units in the same month last year. Overseas production increased by 4% to 36,138 units, while output in Japan rose by 5% to 39,212 units — driven by a 27% increase in domestic registrations to 8,562 units. Exports rebounded by 11% to 19,132 units, despite a 29% drop in shipments to North America.
Production in Asia outside Japan rose by 3% year-on-year to 35,428 vehicles in May, with output in Thailand falling by 7% to 16,277 units, despite the recent launch of the company’s second hybrid model in the country – the locally-made XForce hybrid SUV. Production in Indonesia increased by 37% to 13,467 units.

In the first five months of 2025, Mitsubishi produced 367,446 vehicles globally, down by almost 8% compared with 398,523 units in the same period last year, with domestic output up by 1% to 163,841 units, while overseas production fell by almost 17% to 164,393 units. Sales in Japan were slightly lower at 49,891 units in this period, while exports increased by 1.4% to 92,445 units.
