Volkswagen’s Spanish arm Seat will show its production-ready Altea minivan at next month’s Frankfurt motor show ahead of launch in 2004. The Altea is the first Seat line developed within the new Audi Brand Group created in early 2002.

Seat calls the sporty monospace design an MSV, for Multi Sport Vehicle. It has 2+2 seating (four individual seats), an aerodynamic silhouette and the show car also has a compact, lowered five-door chassis, and detailing such as 19 inch rims with low profile tyres, and brake components visible through the wheel spokes.
The Altea is set to be a mainstay of the brand and shows how future Seat models will look. The new model is 4,292 mm long, 1,812 mm wide, 1,552mm high on a 2,578mm wheelbase.
The Altea has a new two-litre FSI petrol engine as introduced with parent Volkswagen’s Touran minivan – this will be Seat’s first direct injection petrol engine. The engine’s 150 PS output is transmitted to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic, sequential Tiptronic gearbox.
