Stellantis plans to shut a large vehicle proving grounds facility in Arizona by the end of the year, according to a US media report.

CNBC reported the news that the Arizona Proving Grounds, used for vehicle testing and development for the automaker since Chrysler purchased the property from Ford in 2007, is facing an end to its operations.

The report also said that the operations employ around 70 people, including workers represented by a local chapter of the UAW.

Stellantis plans to use a proving grounds in Arizona owned by Toyota from next year, the report said.

The report added that Toyota opened its operations, which are costly to maintain, for other companies to use in 2021.
