Former Lotus UK chief Adrian Hallmark has been named executive director, sales, at Saab Automobile in Sweden.

He joins newly independent of GM automaker from Volkswagen, where he was executive director of Asia. Previously he was responsible for Bentley’s global sales, marketing and PR activities and was executive vice president of Volkswagen of America before taking up his post in Asia.

Hallmark will be based at Saab’s headquarters in Trollhattan, Sweden, reporting directly to Saab president and CEO, Jan Ake Jonsson. He takes over from Knut Simonsson, who remains executive director, brand and marketing.

Hallmark said: “Saab is embarking on a new era as an independent company and I am delighted to be joining the management team at such an exciting time. With three new products about to be launched and a re-energised dealer network in place, I look forward to building sales volumes and reinforcing the brand’s presence in major markets around the world.”

Over the next 16 months Saab, recently acquired from General Motors by sportscar maker Spyker, plans to launch three new products – the fully redesigned 9-5 sedan, the 9-4X and the 9-5 SportCombi.
