SWITCH Mobility, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland and part of the Hinduja group, has launched two new electric buses, EiV12 and E1, to ‘redefine urban mobility in India, Europe, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)’.
The EiV12, claimed to be India’s first low-floor electric city bus with chassis-mounted batteries, has a scalable battery capacity of more than 400+ kWh.
The launch event was attended by Nitin Gadkari, Indian Minister of Road Transport and Highways alongside Ashok P. Hinduja, chairman of Hinduja Group Companies (India), and other industry leaders.
With a capacity to seat up to 39 passengers, the EiV12 platform, designed and manufactured in India, claims to offer global standards in urban commute performance, safety, reliability, and comfort.
It is claimed to offer maximum revenue potential for operators.
The SWITCH EiV12 offers low-floor entry with a kneeling mechanism for easy access, an automated wheelchair ramp, and spaces for differently-abled passengers, while five CCTV cameras and dedicated five women seating address safety concerns.
