Honda Taiwan Motor, a fully-owned subsidiary of Honda Japan, reportedly plans to restart car assembly after February, industry sources told CENS.com.
Production was interrupted on 15 December by the flood in Thailand which forced parts suppliers to halt production.
Honda Japan recently said parts suppliers in Thailand would restart production from January and has been resourcing parts supply from other countries. But Honda Taiwan said production volume initially after the restart will be lower than normal, with full recovery to be achieved by late in the first quarter.
The Taiwanese unit has delayed announcing its 2012 sales target, and postponed launch of the latest locally assembled Civic sedan to the second half. To cope with the temporary shortage of locally assembled models, Honda Taiwan recently refocused on imports, especially the CR-Z and Insight hybrids.
