Garmin (Europe) has clinched a deal with BMW GB to be the exclusive supplier of portable navigation units to 308 BMW and Mini dealerships in the United Kingdom.
Dealers will sell four Garmin models, accessories and a traffic receiver.
One model includes a text-to-speech feature that can audibly announce the name of upcoming streets and points of interest.
In addition to detailed regional detailed maps included as standard, some models have ‘base’ maps of Europe, the Near East and Africa. Map data is from Navteq.
The nuvi model also functions as a language translator, travel guide, MP3 player, audio book player, currency and measurement converter, a world clock, and digital photo organiser. A personal travel guide lets users browse restaurant menus and reviews, fine historical information about landmarks, translate foreign words or phrases and calculate currency conversions.
