With a mid-life facelift, Honda Europe has dumped the unpopular i-shift automated manual transmission from the Jazz [Fit] and brought back the constantly variable transmission used for the previous generation.

The CVT is standard feature on the new hybrid variant and optional for 1.4 litre petrol models, where, thanks to improvements, it now matches the economy and emissions of the outgoing i-shift with CO2 emissions from 125g/km.

Jazz/Fit models sold in some other markets have a 1.5-litre petrol engine and conventional five-speed automatic option; Europe gets 1.2 and 1.4-litre petrol engines plus the hybrid option.

Leather upholstery with chrome rings defining the air vents, instruments and climate controls across the dashboard is another  new feature standard on the HX hybrid version and GBP1,250 extra on the 1.4 EX.

The rear seats can now recline 73mms to increase rear passenger comfort.
