Hyundai Car (UK) Ltd will become the UK’s first vehicle maker to offer a fully manufacturer-backed five year, unlimited mileage warranty as standard across its range.
The launch of the pioneering five year warranty is, Hyundai claims, “a direct result of customer demand for a longer warranty period with real value” and replaces the current three year unlimited warranty.
The new warranty is available to private and fleet users, and applies to all models.
The company stresses the change is permanent, not just a limited time offer.
The new UK warranty betters the Hyundai USA “bumper-to-bumper” five years/60,000-mile coverage which limits some items such as the audio system and battery to three years.

By GlobalDataHyundai claims that it has made the UK’s first five year new car warranty as ‘transparent’ and easy to understand as possible.
As well as unlimited mileage (most manufacturers limit mileage to between 60,000 and 100,000 miles), the five year warranty covers virtually all mechanical and electrical components though, not unreasonably, replaceable items such as wiper blades and batteries are covered for shorter periods.
Items such as the exhaust system, timing belts and shock absorbers are covered for the full five years and unlimited mileage though certain restrictions apply.
Hyundai prices remain unchanged and the new five-year warranty is transferable to a new owner.
All models will also continue to be offered with three years RAC Assistance as standard.
Owners must ensure their cars are serviced and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines throughout the warranty period.
Grey (parallel) imports remain covered only by the warranty from the vehicle’s country of origin.
