Vehicle production this week in the US, Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 299,620 units, down 16.5% from the 358,621 cars and trucks built last week, according to WardsAuto.com.
Including this week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 16,381,489 vehicles, up 0.9% from like-2004’s pace.
In the US, automakers are expected to produce 212,566 vehicles this week, down 16.8% from the 255,406 cars and trucks built last week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 11,992,241 units, down 0.1% compared to the 12,006,302 vehicles built in like-2004.
This week’s Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 48,369, a decrease of 22.6% from the 62,455 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,691,942 units, down 0.4% compared to the 2,702,937 vehicles produced in like-2004.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S., General Motors Corp. accounted for 27.2%; Ford Motor Co., 24.2%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 9.7%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 9.3%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 8.2%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.3%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.8%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.3%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 0.9%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.1%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.9%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.8%; and other manufacturers, 5.3%.
