Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 15,359,092 vehicles, up 0.7% from like-2004’s pace.


In the US, automakers were expected to produce 243,341 vehicles last week, up 61.5% from the 150,640 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 11,262,401 units, down 0.1% compared to the 11,271,113 vehicles built in like-2004.


Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 62,338, an increase of 0.7% from the 61,910 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,518,820 units, down 0.9% compared to the 2,542,199 vehicles produced in like-2004.
